Employment rates measure the proportion of the population (of working-age or a subset of that) that is currently employed. The 2021 European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan set a target for the EU to have at least 78% of those aged 20-64 in employment by 2030 and, crucially, to halve the gender employment gap (i.e. the difference between the employment rate of men and the employment rate of women in percentage points). To monitor progress, this indicator shows the employment rate of women and men aged 20-64.
