Ratio of internationally mobile women to men among active authors of academic publications ta_resdig_sctech_rdperes_mobres__sf_int_mob_auth

Time format:
Years
Unit:
Ratio (comparable)
Description:

Based on the affiliation of active authors in the Scopus database, this indicator aims to measure the international mobility of researchers. (‘Active authors’ are those who have produced 10+ papers over the previous ten years, and at least one paper in the previous five years, and those who have produced a minimum of four papers in the last five years.)

This indicator uses affiliation history in the published papers of active author as a means of determining international mobility. Authors are considered internationally mobile where they have publications with affiliations in at least two countries. A value of 1 indicates that the proportion of women who are internationally mobile is equal to the proportion of men, while a value of less than 1 shows a lower proportion of women who are internationally mobile and a value of more than 1 shows a higher proportion of women who are internationally mobile compared to men.

This indicator is a proxy for the indicator presented in She Figures 2021, ‘International mobility rates (%) of higher education sector (HES) researchers in post-PhD career stages, by sex’, which can no longer be produced due to the discontinuation of the MORE Survey. Data between the two indicators are not directly comparable.
