This indicator presents the gender overall earnings gap (GOEG), a synthetic indicator measuring the combined impact of three factors on the difference in average earnings between all women and men of working age, both employed and not employed. The three factors are:
The GOEG indicator provides an overall picture of the pay gap between women and men in Europe, capturing differences between women and men in employment and hours worked, along with hourly earnings.
The gap is expressed as a percentage. A positive gap represents an advantage for men, while a negative gap indicates an advantage for women.
