Time format:
Years
Unit:
Percentage (comparable)
Description:

This indicator shows the proportion of part-time researchers in the Higher Education Sector by sex.

Eurostat defines part-time work as follows: ‘A person in a part-time job is assumed to work less than a comparable fulltime worker having a job in the same occupation and in the same organisation ('local unit'). For people who can't compare working hours because e.g. they are working alone, the benchmark is the group of people who work in the same occupation and the same branch of industry in the same country’ (Eurostat, Statistics Explained, Part-time and full-time employment statistics, 2023).

This indicator replaces the earlier indicator “Proportion (%) of part-time employed among researchers in the higher education sector (HES), by sex”, which can no longer be computed due to the discontinuation of the MORE survey. Note that the two indicators use different definitions and different sources and are not directly comparable.
