Calculations are based on microdata from the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS), coordinated by Eurofound. The survey aims to represent the population of all residents in a survey country aged 18 or older.
The question considered is question Q33 from the 2016 EQLS survey in the EQLS Integrated Data File, 2003-2016: Generally speaking, would you say that most people can be trusted, or that you can’t be too careful in dealing with people? The response is chosen on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 You can't be too careful; 10 Most people can be trusted).
The answer is calculated as the mean score on the scale out of all responses given by persons who answered the question (excluding those answering 'don't know' or refusing to answer).
