The data in this table are based on the surveys EUROBAROMETER 83.4 (May 2015), EUROBAROMETER 91.4 (May 2019), and EUROBAROMETER 99.2 (April-May 2023). The data show what percentage of all respondents have felt discriminated against or harassed on the basis of various grounds of discrimination.

From the 2015 to the 2019 survey, the following changes were made to the answer options.

  • The following options were removed: “Being over 55 years old”; “Being under 30 years old”; and “Gender identity (being transgender or transsexual)”
  • The following options were added: “Skin colour”; “Being Roma”; “Being perceived as too old or too young”; “Being transgender”; “Being intersex”; “Age (being perceived as old, or young)”; “Political opinions”; “Social class”; and “General physical appearance”.

From the 2019 to the 2023 survey, the option “Being Roma” was removed.

For 11 Member States, data on specific options are not available in 2023:

  • “Being intersex” (CZ, DK, ES, FR, LV, NL, SE, LT, and PT)
  • “Being transgender” (LT and PT)
  • “Don't know” (EL and HR)
  • “Skin colour” and “sexual orientation” (LT)
