Calculations are based on microdata from the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS), coordinated by Eurofound. The survey aims to represent the population of all residents in a survey country aged 18 or older.
The question considered is questions Q71 and 72 from the 2016 EQLS survey in the EQLS Integrated Data File, 2003-2016: What type of long term care did you (Q71) or somebody close to you (Q72) use the most during the last 12 months? 1 Nursing care services at your/this person’s home; 2 Home help or personal care services in your/this person’s home; 3 Residential care or nursing home.
This question was only asked in 2016, therefore no time series data are available. In addition, the sample for this question is small causing estimates at the country level to be unreliable. Therefore, only EU-level results are available.
For each response category, the indicator is calculated as the percentage of persons who answered the question using this response category out of all respondents who were asked to respond to this question.
