Currently, internationally comparable data on most types of gender-based violence do not exist. The existing data (based on administrative data in individual Member States) suffer from a series of problems (such as differences in the legal and operational definitions of the crimes and the methodologies used in recording their prevalence), which render comparisons between countries impossible.
We therefore present these data separately for each country. Below, you can download each Member State's data in a separate MS Excel file. This file contains the available prevalence information for rape, as well as the definitions of this crime in the respective Member State. Please note that due to differences in definitions and methodologies data from different countries are not directly comparable.
