This indicator provides information on whether the number of beds in women’s shelters in countries included in the WAVE Country Reports (2014-2023) meet the criteria set by the Istanbul Convention. According to the Explanatory Report to the Istanbul Convention, countries should provide a minimum of one family place per every 10,000 inhabitants.
The WAVE Country Report 2014 refers to ‘shelter places’, while the 2015-2023 reports refer to shelter ‘beds’. These terms are used interchangeably by WAVE (i.e., one shelter place is equivalent to one shelter bed in most countries). If a cell is blank, information on the number of beds missing in women’s shelters for that country/year is not available.
