The indicator shows whether the parliament (or specific house of parliament) has any body that works on gender equality issues.
The bodies covered can be a permanent parliamentary committee with full legislative capacity, or a less formal body such as a women's caucus or cross-party women's network that works on women's issues within parliament and does not have any legislative capacity.
A sub-question for this indciator asks whether the body can hold hearings with external stakeholders. Usually this applies only to parliamentary committees which may call upon external expertise to input to their work in reviewing prospective legislation.
