H4. Production and dissemination of statistics disaggregated by sex
Good quality statistics that allow the situation of women and men to be compared and contrasted are crucial both as an evidence base for informed policy making and for awareness raising. Hence strategic objective H3 of the BPfA aims to ensure that the relevant data are routinely collected and openly disseminated. To monitor this objective, indicator H4 comprises two sub-indicators:
Important note: due to changes/additions/removals in the list of questions used to populate sub-indicators and, therefore, the main indicators, the data are not comparable through time. Further information can be found in this methodological report (link to be added). Labels for each of the indicators and sub-indicators show the maximum score possible and how this has changed through time.
In relation to indicator H4, the officially adopted version includes a sub-indicator H4b on governmental commitment to the dissemination of gender statistics but it was found that the relevant laws, regulations or other agreements were largely the same as for H4a on production of statistics. Hence from 2021, H4b is not used as a separate sub-indicator and the relevant information is effectively covered as part of sub-indicator H4a.
