H2. Human resources of the national gender equality bodies
Indicator H2 relates to BPfA strategic objective H1 and the strengthening of institutional mechanisms. More specifically, indicator H2 aims to assess whether the governmental and independent bodies (dealt with separately under sub-indicators H2a and H2b respectively) have adequate resources to fulfil their mandate.
The sub-indicators currently consider human resources only. They are scored in relation to the absolute number of people employed by the gender equality body. In the data for 2021, in cases where the body has a wider equalities remit so that some or all staff work either entirely or partly on issues other than gender equality, the overall personnel resources are adjusted on the basis of a broad brush estimate (0-25%, 25-50%, etc.) of the proportion of time devoted to gender equality issues, always using the upper limit of the range. The data also take into account multiple bodies where relevant. In previous years, the data requested referred to full-time equivalent numbers of staff working on gender equality. These numbers have been scored using the approach for 2021 but the figures may not be comparable.
