Indicators for monitoring Area H of the Beijing Platform for Action
Four indicators are used for monitoring the implementation of Area H of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), which relates to the strength of the national machineries to promote gender equality and gender mainstreaming:
Important note: due to changes/additions/removals in the list of questions used to populate sub-indicators and, therefore, the main indicators, the data are not comparable through time. In particular, taking note of the Directives on equal treatment between women and men (2004/113/EC, 2006/54/EC, and 2010/41/EU) and the 2015 OECD recommendation on gender equality in public life, the scope of indicators H1 and H3 has been extended (compared to the versions adopted by the Council of the European Union) in 2021 to cover the inputs of independent gender equality bodies as well as governmental gender equality bodies. Further information can be found in the methodological report published by EIGE. Labels for each of the indicators and sub-indicators show the maximum score possible and how this has changed through time.
