Time format:
Years
Unit:
Percentage (comparable)
Description:

This indicator shows platform workers’ perception of the distribution of housework between partners living in the same household.

The indicator is based on responses to the question. Thinking about the division of work in your household, how involved are you in comparison to your partner or spouse in each of these activities?

Respondents were instructed to only consider the activities performed outside paid work, i.e., those that they are not paid for. This includes:

  • Household work, not including childcare and leisure time activities;
  • Taking care of, educating and playing with children;
  • Taking care of disabled, elderly or infirm family members, neighbours or friends.

Respondent could select one of the following options:

  • I do more than my partner or spouse;
  • We share roughly equally;
  • My partner or spouse does more than me;
  • Don't know/ not applicable.

Shown only to respondents who live with their partner.

This indicator is disaggregated by the education level of the respondent. Responses were grouped into three levels of education according to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED): “Low” (ISCED 1-2), “Medium” (ISCED 3-4) and “High” (ISCED 5-8).

ISCED levels are:

  • 1. Primary education or less
  • 2. Lower secondary education or equivalent level
  • 3. Secondary education (e.g. high school)
  • 4. Post-secondary education non-tertiary (e.g. technical education lasting minimum 6 months)
  • 5. Short-cycle tertiary (e.g. advanced vocational education lasting minimum 2 years)
  • 6. University: Bachelor’s or equivalent level
  • 7. University: Master’s or equivalent level
  • 8. University: Doctoral (PhD) or equivalent level
