Description:

The indicator shows the sex-disaggregation of regular platform workers who have worked on digital platforms at least occasionally in the past 6 months. Working at least occasionally aggregates three answer categories: 'I worked irregularly or occasionally, from time to time’, ‘I worked regularly for a period of less than three months’ and ‘I worked regularly for a period of more than three months’.

This indicator is disaggregated by type of service provided by the respondent via online platforms. Online tasks refer to:

  • Clerical and data-entry tasks (e.g. customer service, data entry, transcription and similar)
  • Creative and multimedia work (e.g. animation, graphic design, photo editing, audio and video content and similar)
  • Sales and marketing support work (e.g. lead generation, posting ads, social media management and content, search engine optimisation and similar)
  • Software development and technology work (e.g. data science, game development, mobile development and similar)
  • Writing and translation work (e.g. article writing, copywriting, proofreading, translation and similar)
  • Micro tasks (e.g. object classification, tagging, content review, taking online surveys, website feedback and similar)
  • Other professional services(e.g. online tutoring or consultations, research, accounting, legal services, project management and similar)
  • Other online tasks

On-location tasks refer to:

  • Transportation services (e.g. driving, moving services, etc.)
  • Delivery services (e.g. food delivery, groceries delivery, parcel delivery, etc.)
  • Housekeeping or other home services (e.g. cleaning, gardening, etc.)
  • Construction and repair work (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, furniture assembly, etc.)
  • Sports, beauty, health and wellness services (e.g. make-up, massage, etc.)
  • Photography services
  • Pet care and/ or veterinary services (e.g. dog walking, pet healthcare, etc.)
  • Childcare or elderly care services
  • Teaching or counselling services
  • Tourism and gastronomy services (e.g. tour guide services, food catering, etc.)
  • Temporary auxiliary work
  • Mystery shopper activities
  • Other on-location tasks
