Description:

For each group by working time and sector, the gender pay gap is calculated as the difference between the average wages for women and for men as a percentage of the average wages for men:

(Average male wages - Average female wages) / (Average male wages) * 100

The available data do not allow a strict separation of public vs. private sector employment. Using the NACE Rev 2 classification of sectors, the following aggegates of NACE categories are used as proxies:

  • B-N (Business economy) for Private sector
  • P-S (Education; human health and social work activities; arts, entertainment and recreation; other service activities) for Public sector
